ISEA Certified Cyber Hygiene Practitioner: A review
Well hello there,
In this article, I will be detailing my experience taking the ISEA Certified Cyber Hygiene Practitioner exam. This is a part of the awareness campaign being organized by the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA), a program by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India (MetiY) for National Cyber Security Awareness month, which is observed every year in October.
About the quiz
The Certified Practitioner quiz comprises of 60 MCQ questions, which range from easy to moderately medium. The test taker gets a maximum of 3 attempts to pass the exam and the baseline to pass the exam is ≥ 50%. Your total score will be out of 60 total marks and you get an hour to attempt the exam.
The test is free of cost for anyone to take. Anyone, irrespective of nationality wanting to broaden their security knowledge can attempt this exam as well, which is a generous gesture by MetiY and the Government of India.
Preparation
Suffice to say, anyone with a decent knowledge of common cyber practices to be followed on electronic devices like laptops, mobile devices, email security, and general security followed in everyday life can take up this certification with confidence
If you would like to prepare for this exam, ISEA has compiled a comprehensive course for you to go through, once you register on their website

My experience taking the exam
I do enjoy learning more and was keen to go through the online course, to see if I could pick up more nuggets of knowledge to aid my preparation for the Security+ exam I was taking up in a few days. I can say that the course has an extensive amount of knowledge for beginners and general test takers to learn. The most important caveat is that the concepts and knowledge you gain should be applicable to your daily life as well
With a pumping rush of adrenaline, I then went forward to take the exam
The questions were not tough by any means, but some lacked the realistic touch, that a person would experience in their day-to-day life. I also noticed the same with some options provided to questions. If you are reading this, let this not deter you from taking the exam though. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion and I just stated mine.
Results
Taking a total of 18 minutes to attempt the test, I did pass with a score of 46/60, with a percentile score of 76%.To say the very least, I was pleased.
After passing, you get an email from ISEA, regarding the announcement of your pass and a link to claim your digital certificate, which is cool!
How to verify your certificate, for future references?
Method 1 —Paste Link — https://infosecawareness.in/validate-certificate?certid=CDACHYD/ISEA/CHP/<Unique Certificate ID>
Method 2 -Scan the QR code on your certificate using a QR Scanner, to find your certificate.
Your digital certificate will have your unique Certificate ID as well
Post it on your LinkedIn profile and share your certificate via a post, to claim your bragging rights!
Conclusion
The Practitioner course is in overall, a good exam for cyber security enthusiasts and for the general public to test themselves on the ever-evolving subject of Cyber Security. I appreciate this initiative made by the Government of India and MetiY, with the growing need to educate citizens about Information Security
Stay safe, stay secure and “Do your part.Be Cyber Smart”, during this Cyber Security Awareness Month
